Kinesio Taping

What Is Kinesio Taping?

Kinesio taping is a rehab technique used by chiropractors.  Typically, he or she will implement this method in order to facilitate the human body's ability to heal itself naturally.  At the same time, it is designed to support a person's joints or muscles without hampering their ability to move around.  At North Port Chiropractic in FL, we provide Kinesio taping.

What types of situations require kinesio taping?

Our chiropractor, Dr. Daniel Rubin, uses Kinesio taping to eliminate pain in a person's joints, ligaments, and muscles.  If there is any swelling in these parts of the body, kinesio taping will reduce it.  It speeds up the recovery process, and as we mentioned earlier, allows patients to be mobile throughout the process.

How do I know if I need kinesio taping?

If you have any pain or swelling in your shoulders, wrists, ankles, knees, or in any of your muscles, see your chiropractor.  He or she will give you an examination and a diagnosis, then determine if Kinesio taping is an option for you.

Facts about Kinesio Taping

The average time for kinesio taping to start to work is approximately 20 minutes.  Once it is applied, your doctor will instruct you to rub it vigorously for a few minutes.  In about 20 minutes, its glue will have fully adhered to the problem area.

If you live in North Port, Port Charlotte, or West Village, keep kinesio taping techniques in mind for the next time you need treatment for pain or swelling in your shoulders, wrists, ankles, knees, or in any of your muscles.  Dr. Rubin will likely advise you to keep the tape on all day long for three to four days.  What happens after that is determined by how well your injury has healed so far.
